Simon McVeigh is Emeritus Professor at Goldsmiths, University of London. His research is focussed on British musical life 1700–1945 and on violin music and performance practices of the period. Books include Concert Life in London from Mozart to Haydn (1993) and Music in Edwardian London (2024). He is also co-editor of the Cambridge University Press series Elements in Music and the City.
